The effects of online studying influence students and school faculties
It has been controversial among the public in recent days whether the effects of online studying influence students and school faculties. Due to the new trend of the Covid-19 pandemic, most schools and educational institutions are starting to put classes and activities online, so students and educators are now renewing the comment of the practicability of online studying. Many people believe that distance learning allows students to control everything by themselves, which is young people’s lifestyle. However, from my standpoint, I think the negative effects of distance studying should be more highlighted. This is because online studying will cause negative effects on students’ mental health, online studying might distract people from studying.
First, the period of online studying might be extremely struggling for some people. According to the research “A study survey that people who infected symptoms of moderate to severe depression counted almost 16.5%; 28.8% students said that they are struggling with symptoms of moderate to severe anxiety, there also 8.1% reported that they’re affected by moderate to critical stress levels (Irawan, 2020).” That data reflects the effects of the long period of online study. Online studying generated some life pressures for students. To some extent, online studying destroyed people’s lives by isolating people from their friends or someone they’re familiar with which is unnecessary. As a result, more and more students already experienced long-time online studying, and the tension regardless of life or scholar is against students, this stress is already beyond their tolerance which in some cases will have more serious consequences.
In addition, too many distractions are also one of the negative effects of distance studying. Nowadays, most students already experienced learning with technology, additionally, some applications have been invented and are extremely appealing to people. Online education has allowed students to do something that traditional schooling might not allow. According to a famous educational institution, “Experienced online study learners will express that all that freedom requires self-discipline. Any possible distractions that occur outside of school will make online learning more difficult. With the right set of learning skills and an attitude of hardworking, students can succeed. (‘Divest’, no date).” However, according to our stats for distance learning, 77.78% of the students express online studying has too many distractions which is counted as NO.1. 69.4% of students who think online studying will intensify addicted to the internet which is counted as NO.3. Obviously, these issues are dominant. For a long time, online studying, those problems would have more serious outcomes, the student’s GPA will decline as a cliff, and the attitude of students’ study also will make a big turn, this will also have huge consequences for future learning.
Although online studying might let students take charge of their own time and will help students to become more independent. Nevertheless, the negative effects of online studying still counted the most in the long run, it’s more influences students’ future development, and students who are not so independent probably be reduced to poverty.
In conclusion, long-time online studying will cause students to have mental problems in a bigger possibility because of the high tension in their lives and studies. What’s more, online studying also really distracts students from studying which is against with right learning attitude, this is not beneficial to students’ future development at all.
