CapitalExampleHow are these capitals affected by pollu-on?How does it affect the economy?
Human capitalIdeas, experiences, different skillsPeople’s health will affected by pollu-on such as heat diseases.Human capital causes the economy to grow. People’s crea-vity and skills create many businesses that help to develop the economy.
Manufactured capitalMachines, carsFactories will take fewer resources from nature and make less profit. Also, if people are not healthy anymore, then factories will lose a lot of workforce.Machines can reduce companies’ costs, which promotes the economy. Many useful tools and devices improve people’s life quality and makes our life more convenient.
Natural capitalWater, soil, airWater pollu-on, soil pollu-on, air pollu-on. This pollu-on leads to the quality of natural resources decreasing. Eg. water qualityPeople cannot live without natural capital. Nature provides a wide range of resources for the human to u-lize. Companies take advantage of natural resources and make profits, which helps to promote the economy.

2. What is the leading cause of air pollu-on? How can this be avoided without nega-vely affec-ng the economy?

Power genera-on. Enac-ng effec-ve laws such as the Clean Air Act of 1970, which allowed states to control motor vehicle emissions.

3. What are the four key areas that are affected by water pollu3on? Give at least two more key areas that might also be affected by water pollu3on.

Public health, Tourism, Fisheries, Real Estate. Agriculture and water supply

4. Plas3c is a leading cause of pollu3on but why do people s3ll use plas3c? How can the use of plas3cs be minimized? State at least two ways.

Plas3c is flexible, lightweight, and sustainable. It is a a superior form of packaging to cardboard, mental, or paper.

1) Burning plas3c in a growing number of waste-to-energy (WTE) plants 2) Enact laws, strictly regulate waste disposal. 3) Using fewer plas3c bags, using cloth bags.

5. What happens to plas3cs when they disintegrate? How will the economy be affected by the disintegra3on of plas3cs?

Plas3c doesn’t biodegrade. It disintegrates into micropar3cles.
Industries take advantage of natural resources. Plas3c cannot disintegrate, and it leads to pollu3on. Then a lot of

industries will be limited by pollu3on. The economy will also be affected because industries cannot benefit a lot from nature anymore. Besides, if people ate some food that is poisonous, then companies will lose a lot of workforce.

6. What do European countries do to minimize plas3c pollu3on? Will it bring a posi3ve impact on their economy in the long run? Why?

European countries are burning plas1c in a growing number of waste-to-energy (WTE) plants. Yes, it will. WTE will reduce countries’ waste disposal and save a lot of energy. It helps countries to save more energy and resources, so countries will cost less to produce products.

7. Who should act to minimize or stop pollu-on of all forms?

The government and the Clean Air Act.
